Comment from Artley, Dick
Dear NPCC members,
The draft 6th Power Plan for the electricity needs of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana does not recognize the reality that global climate change continues to get worse and simultaneously our salmon and steelhead are endangered in the Columbia and Snake.
Federal law requires that the NPCCC give fish and wildlife resources "equitable treatment" in the planning process. For endangered salmon and steelhead in the Columbia and Snake Rivers, this MUST (emphasis added) mean that the removal of the lower Snake River dams begin as soon as possible.
Why? Scientific evidence points to these dasms as the primary reason for the decline in the populations of wild salmon and steelhead.
