Draft Revised Fuel Price Forecasts

July 3, 2007  |  document 2007-10

Dear Interested Party:

The Council has revised its fuel price forecasts. Since the development of the Council’s Fifth Power Plan in 2004, subsequent fuel price forecasts by organizations specializing in such analysis have shown an upward trend in prices. The Council’s updated forecast is not expected to have an effect on the near-term actions recommended in the Power Plan, but could serve as a draft assumption on fuel prices as the Council begins developing a new Power Plan in 2008. It is also likely that higher fuel prices will translate into higher forecasts of electricity prices, and a revised forecast will be developed for electricity prices as well.

This report addresses natural gas, oil, and coal prices and forecasts. The Council is inviting public comment on its draft forecast through Friday, August 10, 2007. See sidebar for commenting.
