At the request of the Council, the Independent Scientific
Review Panel reviewed a March 28, 2003 submittal from the project sponsors
of the Idaho Supplementation Studies (ISS). The submittal was requested by
the Council to address issues and concerns raised by the ISRP (ISRP
2001-12A) and subsequent conditions the Council placed on the ISS as
part of Fiscal Year 2002 Mountain Snake Province project selection process
(Programmatic Issue #10).
The ISRP's final recommendation is to fund the Idaho
Supplementation Study for one year subject to requirements for 1) carcass
data collection in 2003, and 2) peer review of the ISS's pilot analysis
following the 2003 field season and the final design of the Phase III
segment. This analysis, design, and peer review should be conducted before
the 2004 field season.
The rationale and details of the ISRP findings are
provided in the full report.
