Subject: program review - requested recommendations

Dear Madam / Sir:

I would like to submit a very short personal recommendation on a very substantive issue. Approximately one-third of the main Columbia River basin is in British Columbia, along with the headwaters of this great river. Anadromous salmonids migrated well into BC prior to the construction of Grand Coulee dam on the mainstem Columbia River, and several of our tributaries were similarly blocked. Would it not seem politically and biologically reasonable to include and accommodate the Canadian perspective and information into any decision making protocols.

I am sure a majority of British Columbians would consider it a major public relations and biological coup for this situation to be discussed, and also strongly suspect that your own constituents would as well. They would certainly benefit in terms of fish returns which must pass through the US first. The best remaining habitat in the mainstem Columbia arguably is also in this Canadian portion, and the healthiest remaining sockeye salmon stock now spawns in Canada as well.

Please consider our representation and contribution in any future discussions and work. Best wishes and good luck.

Sincerely,

Gordon
