Presentation on Demand Response

Summary: Council hears briefing on potential of "demand response" to save electricity in the future.

Detail: Ken Corum, senior economist, briefed the Council on demand response and its potential benefits to the power system. He defined demand response as a change in demand for electricity corresponding to a change in the power system's cost of electricity. He described examples of demand response, the challenges to implementing it, and what the next steps are to realize its potential. See presentation (150k PDF).
