Council Adopts Adequacy Standard for the Northwest's Power Supply to Avoid Repeat of 2000-01 Energy Crisis

The Council adopted a standard to help know whether the region's electricity supply is sufficient. The standard was developed in response to the 2000-01 energy crisis that brought the Northwest close to blackouts and triggered huge price spikes. "It will act as a smoke alarm to signal the need for action, so that problems are addressed before they become a crisis," said Council member Tom Karier.

Council Receives Recommendations to Its Fish and Wildlife Program

The Council has received 65 sets of recommendations to amend its Columbia River Basin Fish and Wildlife Program, and Council members heard presentations from some of the submitters at its meeting in Whitefish, Montana. View and comment on any of the recommendations. The deadline to submit comments is June 12.

Council Releases Draft FY 2010 Budget and Revised FY 2009 Budget for Public Comment

The Council approved the release of its draft FY 2010 and revised FY 2009 budgets for public comment. The comment period ends on June 30.
