Council Recommends Funding for Proposed Fish Accord ProjectsCouncil members recommended funding eight fish and wildlife projects ranging from research on Pacific lamprey to a basinwide evaluation on the long-term effects of hatcheries. The projects, known as the fish accords, were agreed upon by federal agencies and Indian tribes in 2008. The projects are subject to the Council's funding process, which includes independent scientific review. The Council recommends projects to the Bonneville Power Administration for funding. Regional Power Plan is Set for Adoption in FebruaryCouncil members reviewed the latest updates to the analysis for the power plan, indicating that it is likely to be adopted at the Council's meeting next month. Progress Report on the Kootenai River Habitat Restoration Regional Power PlanSue Ireland, Kootenai Tribe of Idaho, Greg Delwiche, Bonneville Power Administration, and Frances Coffey, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers briefed (1.2mb PDF) Council members on the Kootenai River Habitat Restoration project, which is funded by Bonneville through the Council's fish and wildlife program. The project seeks to restore and enhance the Kootenai River habitat. |
