The Council put out an issue paper on proposed metrics to track our progress in meeting the goals of the Council’s power plans.

The Council develops a regional power plan that provides guidance to the region on resource development. It is mandated through the Northwest Power Act to encourage investments in cost-effective energy resources. The metrics, or high-level indicators, will help in assessing how well we are implementing the plan and meeting the goals of the Act.

The issue paper highlights key issues and seeks comments to help determine the appropriate HLIs to use in developing the Council’s Seventh Power Plan. We expect to release a draft plan next fall, at which time the public will have another opportunity to comment.

At the Council Meeting in November 2014, the Council decided to delay any decision about instituting High Level Indicators for the Power Plan until after the publication of the plan in late 2015.

If you have questions about this issue or the decision please contact Chad Madron from the Council staff.
