This annual report, the first for the Regional Technical Forum (RTF), signals an important milestone in its mission to help the Pacific Northwest meet its energy efficiency goals. With the growth of wind power and initiatives to reduce carbon emissions as new considerations for planners, energy efficiency continues to be a key tool to ensure a reliable and economical power supply. The RTF’s expanding areas of work and participation reflect this awareness. This report highlights the RTF’s accomplishments to verify and evaluate energy savings of the past year, its finances, and regional support. Moving forward, the Council’s newly established policy advisory committee will make sure that the RTF and the region are working together to meet the Council’s Sixth Power Plan efficiency targets. Doing so will enable us to meet most of our future demand for the next 20 years through improved energy efficiency, saving consumers money while also protecting the environment.
