Draft Annual Report to Congress

During FY 2019, the Northwest energy system continued to move away from thermal energy and toward more renewable generation. This is a significant change with ramifications for the adequacy of the system. Over the next 10 years, several Western coal-fired power plants will retire, bowing to economic, regulatory, and environmental pressures. This long-term trend, along with increasing generation from wind and solar, presents challenges to meeting peak demand in the region. Comment on this report by December 20.
